- WhatsApp will end support for some iPhones and Android devices.
- WhatsApp will not function on devices that are not running iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 operating systems.
- Android phones that do not have Android 4.0.3 will lose access to WhatsApp.
- Come 2021, WhatsApp will end support for some iPhones and Android devices. Now do not fret already, the messaging app will stop working on older iPhones and Android devices and not the new phones. WhatsApp will primarily end support for smartphones that are using dated operating systems. If reports are to be trusted, WhatsApp will not function on devices that are not running iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 operating systems.
So now for those who have the option of updating their phones to the latest software can do that. But for those, who do not have the option of updating their software, will have to get a new phone to access WhatsApp on their phones.
On a related note, WhatsApp currently received a slew of new features recently. WhatsApp recently rolled out WhatsApp Payments. WhatsApp had partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), an India-first, a real-time payment system that enables transactions with over 160 supported banks. For Indian users, WhatsApp has partnered with leading banks including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, the State Bank of India, and Jio Payments Bank. The feature has been rolled out to Android and iOS users.
Apart from that, WhatsApp had launched Custom Wallpapers, WhatsApp carts, Always Mute option, Disappearing messages, and many other features.
